Deeply Rooted

Welcome to the second quarter of 2022! If you are like me, I’m asking myself why the year seems to be flying by so fast. It feels like we just said “Happy New year” just the other day. Without our hearts focused on God all year round, we will just be marking a change of dates on the calendar without “growing in wisdom, stature and favour with God and men” (Luke 2:52).

God’s plan for us is to grow deep roots and be firmly rooted and grounded in Him; this is what sustains any outward growth that is visible to others. So, let me ask you; are you prioritizing growth in areas that are not immediately visible to men? Like growth in your walk with the Lord (spiritual growth), growth in your mental capacity, relational growth, financial growth etc. The truth is, we can’t grow beyond our level of preparation and if you don’t see the need for change or improvement you will be stuck in your current position.

So this year, what specific area of your life do you desire to see change, progress, increase and advancement? This does not necessarily mean a complete makeover. It could be something so small and seemingly insignificant but can alter the direction of your life forever. There is more power in small and consistent incremental changes in our lives than one major change that we are not able to sustain.

For you to be ready for that next level, you must be uncomfortable or dissatisfied with the current state of things. If you can’t see reason for improvement, you will not reach out for the next level. Comfortable living is the enemy of victorious living. If all we desire is just to be okay and be comfortable, we will not stretch ourselves to live to the fullest of God’s deposit within our lives.

I also need to remind you that God had a purpose in mind when He sent you here. You are endowed with unique gifts and talents that the world is waiting to experience. Don’t discount your abilities, rather grow and develop those giftings and talents. Let humanity be better off because of you. See what scripture has to say in case you are in doubt of what you have to offer your generation.

Let’s examine Romans 8:19 from different translations for clarity.

Romans 8:19 Common English Bible

19 The whole creation waits breathless with anticipation for the revelation of God’s sons and daughters.

Romans 8:19 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

19 For [even the whole] creation (all nature) waits expectantly and longs earnestly for God’s sons to be made known [waits for the revealing, the disclosing of their sonship].

Romans 8:19 Easy-to-Read Version

19 Everything that God made is waiting with excitement for the time when he will show the world who his children are. The whole world wants very much for that to happen.

Hopefully these scriptures convince you beyond any doubt that you have something we all are waiting to see you give expression to. One translation of the same scripture says it this way:

“Yes: creation itself is on tiptoe with expectation, eagerly awaiting the moment when God’s children will be revealed” That is from the ‘New Testament for Everyone’. You are a link to someone else’s full expression of purpose. Live boldly and don’t break the link of transformational living.

Before you are revealed to the world, it is important that you have strong and firm roots in God so that your season in the spotlight will be sustainable and deeply impactful rather than being detrimental.

I pray you will encounter God in a way that will keep you anchored in Him this season in Jesus name!
